So you're implying the Medic Ninjas analyzed the 4th's body and got the Shiki Fuujin technique but not the FTGT??? I think that my previous sentence needs more question marks but anyway, that just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

On a more serious note, Minato might have been the only one who could use Shiki Fuujin to split the Kyuubi chakra and seal half of it to Naruto. Afterall he invented it. And somewhere in this forum was also pointed out an interesting idea that maybe Minato could also use the sage mode and power himself up with the nature chakra, enabling himself to be strong enough to face Kyuubi and seal him, while Sarutobi might simply have lacked enough chakra to seal such a powerful soul.
The battle of Kyuubi was only showed briefly, but if other Konoha shinobi were fighting then Sarutobi would have been there as well to atleast try to hinder the beast. Maybe for some reason he was not in the village at that moment.
