Most of the swords seem kind of weak to me, Zabuza's sword rebuilding itself is not impressive at all, at that point you might as well pick up new swords (although I suppose it is a step up from it basically just being a plain big sword). The Exploding sword could be useful I suppose but its not exactly an inspired concept. The bolt sword seems kind of lame since we have already seen several characters who can manipulate lightening through their regular weapons, it could be that the bolt sword is better but its still not a very interesting concept. The threading needle sword might be interesting but I have no idea how it works, if it is just a thin sword with some thread then that's just lame. I don't really get the bluntsword either, it just seems like a big heavy hammer axe chain thing, it doesn't seem to possess any special powers. The only sword that seems really impressive is Samahada, with Samahada you could see how it would completely boost the users fighting power, the others just seem like minor embelishments. The swordsmens introduction was kind of cool and I think there is some potential for them in this battle but their swords don't seem very well thought out of the most part.

I would like to qoute one of my asian friends "its not what it does, its how you use it." Now what we were talking about was much different than this, the same phrase applies. The sword's powers may seem weak, but they may have awesome potential in battle if their weilders can manipulate that correctly

Do you know what that is?

    @ artifice,

Agreed, the Samehada is the the best sword, but The Lightning sword seemed pretty cool. I agree when you say people like Kakashi and Saskue could mirror the effects without use of a sword, but if you use your imagination rather then relying on the fillers, I'm sure you could come up with some devestating attacks. It might not be completly original, but it could be an extremly useful/effective weapon. I like the fact that Zabuza's sword is so plain because it highlights how much of a badass he was. He was the Demon of the Mist and his sword had no special ability besides the fact he could slice someones head clean off.
    Beware of the Kyubii

Stev3child - The biggest pussy of them all is rokudaime sennin though. If he was a real man, he wouldn't have relied on hax god-given powers to seal the Jyubi. He would have suplexed that bitch and ripped each tail from the beast one by one with his bare hands.

Well for the record might as well list the swords:

    1) Ringo Ameyuri - Boltsword Fang - Lightning manipulation

    2) Akebino Jinin - Bluntsword Helmsplitter - Hammers Axe past defenses

    3) Kuriarare Kushimaru - The Long Sword Threading Needle - Perices and stitches together

    4) Munachi Jinpachi - Blast Sword Splash - Creates exploding tags

    5) Choujirou - Twin Sword Hiramekarei - Chakra hammer

    6) Kisame/ Suikazan Fuguki - Great Sword Samehada - Absorbs Chakra

    7) Zabuza Momochi - Severing Sword Great Beheader - Rebuilds damage from Iron in blood

    8) Mangetsu Hohzuki - Mastered all 7 but probably used Hiramekarei

    - Notice the Jinpachi has an eye patch like Kenpachi from Bleach

So did you like the abilities of the swords or where you disappointed?
    1) The first one, besides being reinforced with lightning element, is supposed to be sharper that any blade using elemental manipulation.

So, if you remember what Asuma said to Naruto, then you can guess that it is quite an advantage, espacially when there may come some special jutsu with it and as it seems to give lightning element by itself.

    2) This one seems pretty simple, yet it is very effective, plus if you could add any elemental manipulation to it, then it really could break any defense

    3) This sword's main purpose isn't killing. As some of you noticed, master of this sword has a mask of a special mist unit that capture and recover bodys. Being able to swiftly link a group of bodys/enemys together from a distance, could really help in recovering and capturing a high amount of people.

    4) This is a one - hit kill sword, it can hit more than one enemy and recharges quickly.

    5) This is a sword that can take any shape through chakra manipulation.

    6) This one is a beast. It's basically a fat pain as a sword. The only one stronger than it is Itachi's Susanoo's Eternal genjutsu sealing sword.

    7) Creating a sword that can't be broken seems better (Oro's Kusanagi is like that if I'm not wrong), at least for Zabuza. Would be good if hitting a pile of iron could recover it instantly.

Yet, I think that it can be nicked and chipped for a purpose, that thos broken fragments could be used as an additional weapon, or a tool to create iron weapons itself.

    8) Making additional 5 hands from water could allow him to wield all 7 swords at the same time.

The swords aren't bad, they fit in the NU and may have more thinking behind them than most of you think.

There is the sword of Totsuka (i guess it's spelled like that). Itachi used it to seal Orochimaru when he came out during the fight with Sasuke

Agreed about Zabuza and his sword.

It has all these good qualities and you probably save lots of chakra by not utilizing lightning attacks.
But about the swords fitting into the NU, I don't think neccessarily agree.
How do you even make OR build swords with powers within the rules of the NU? Put a curse mark in the hilt of the sword? I always thought of Samehada as a lifeform, so like an intelligent animal that could act as a weapon kinda. But with Zabuza's sword constantly regrowing and the bombing sword which looked like it was covered in explosive tags, therefore the tags either constantly get replaced after exploding, or literally regrow also how do you explain the concept of that with out magic? It seems like it smacks of something magical in nature entering the idea of the NU. How else could ninja swordmakers know how to make weapons that knew how to suck iron from blood and rebuild out of it and replenish it's explosive tags? Just saying Magic is anti-NU IMHO.

It's not so hard, as we have demon like beings, energy that allows to create basically anything, powers that focus mainly on spirit(susano) or body (Gai's last attack against Kisame) and others.

But here I can give a possible explenations on how do the swords work and how could they be created.

    1) As the lightning never fades, I guess it has a portion of the lightning type bijuu inside it.

    2) Do I need to explain this one ?

    3) The thread of this weapon, is made probably from a super hard web of a gigantic spider, or from chakra ;p.

    4) The hilt of this sword and the part that holds the exploding tag scroll is made from a material that is immune to fire/explosion(scales ?). The scroll possess over 1000 tags, but it probably isn't unlimited, the user just replenish it with a new one summoned from somewhere (like at the end of the first scroll ;P).

    5) Ah, this one has a very good mechanics that allows it not only to cover itself with user's chakra, but can pressure it(trough it internal channels) to the point that it makes easier chakra manipulation of a bigger size.

    6) This clearly is a living creature that likes dark chakra. It's possibly that it was once in a symbiosis with a bijuu, as it can protect the one that feeds it as well.

    7) A weak magnetism may be the cause of sucking iron from the blood, when it is in direct contact with it. It's so weak that it only gathers molecual levels of Iron from human blood.

You need to remember that there aren't many special weapons in NU that do more than allow chakra conduction.

The swords where most likely created using Ninjutsu or Kinjutsu to be more specific by specialist sword makers. That is why they have special properties.

Well if the lightning sword was imbued with lightning elemental power to begin with and then was sharpened to a ridiculous edge and then had lightning elemental chakra applied to it would really be unblockable. Introducing lightning element to a weapon only boosts the strength and edge it has already, if the sword was hella sharp to begin with then it makes it a whole lot better than a kunai with lightning added to it, then to add that the metal used manipulates lightning too would probably put it in a whole different category. I bet not even Sasuke or Killer B could stop it.

Id like to see a sword using a different element each, that way we could see what happens when you add a certain element to a weapon.
    A pie in the sky?

I don't care what you say, Kuriarare's Threading Needle sword was AWESOME. My favorite of the bunch.
