The art for this episode is a collaboration of prominent animators you might recognize.
Hirofumi Suzuki - Who headed up the recent episode 82
Masaru Hyoudo - Who did the quality work during the rescue Sauske Arc
Norio Matsumoto - The key animator in Naruto movies 2 and 3, as well as the regular series
Seiko Asai - Who worked on Naruto previously and of Full Metal Alchemist and Mushishi fame
And to top it all of even Yamashita is in there.
So yea, animation budget has got to be through the roof. Worth it though, quality animation. It should remind a few of you, who can catch it like kairu87 did, of late part I and the movies.
As the wonderful equation goes: Suzuki + Norio = love
Everything else is just icing.
Pretty good episode. Although we have to wait two weeks, the next one's gonna be sweet.
i liked this episode.. even tho they add stuff that was not in the manga..
Spoiler!
I was just thinking that, it was a really different setup this time.
Good episode though, I really liked how you could feel the emotion in this ep and the different camera angles and combos were really cool. I would love to see this style of effort going forward with Naruto anime!!!
Shikamaru is just way too awesome, he thinks so far ahead its crazy! Who would think to bring a scroll that just makes a puddle of water!?!
A pie in the sky?
This episode is why sometimes I love the anime over the manga all the extras!
Shikamaru using a water scroll strategy was awsome and Dec 4 we get to finally see Naruto's cool surprise.
I loved this episode, how odd that they are upping their game at this point.
agreed, I guess the artists are specialised in drawing hand-to-hand combat fights (Kakashi vs Hidan/Kakuzu scenes). But as one of the few it seems, I'm not impressed at all with the animation of this episode. Clearly less than last 5 episodes when it comes to character drawing (am I really the only one noticing this?), compared to the animation of their first fight against the immortals, this one clearly seems amateur-made.
Only the camera angles and the choreography of the fights made it less crappy...
There were a few extras added in the episode that wasn't in the manga, i.e. did Kakuzu say he fought the 1st in the manga?
