the Greatest shinobi that ever lived

The title speaks for itself.
I want to know who do you think is/was the greatest shinobi.
But there are 2 things i want to mention:
-I do not want you to grade them just on their power and skill,i want you to judge them by the life the lived,the choices they had taken,the bonds that they made
-No trashing other people's opinions
So tell me why do you think your shinobi is the greatest....
And i will leave out some character's in the pool because i do not think they belong here yet...

I would say the 3rd hokage. He cared about everyone in the village. He was choosen to be hokage at an early age. He know every jutsu in the village. He was wise and tried to do whats best for everyone.

if his/her power isnt involved... i would think kakashi could be the one, he is damn smart, lacking in chakra but he can cover it with his brain... he is a very professional shinobi, he know that he is a shinobi so he do his job as a shinobi, treat his subordinate well...etc..etc..

but if the power is involved.. i would say..Sarutobi the 3rd hokage... no need to say much about him..

yes i wanted to put him in the pole but then i thought :he was beaten by pain,we do not know anything about him so he can't be considered as one suited for this title

the 3rd was definitely the greatest ion my opinion. I may have chosen the 1st, but there has not been enough manga time for him to rub off as anything to me. I just know he is strong and that he passed the will of fire on to Saru. Sarutobi is the greatest because he loved everyone in the village as a family member. He gave up his life to stop Orochimaru from contuneuing his rampage on the village he loved. He always wanted to solve things without violence if possible[the uchiha massacre]

If only I could see a glimpse of how powerful he was in his prime.

its true dat sarutobi sensei was good ninja, no doubt about it.. but if i must choose by making difficult dicissions, giving your life and dreams away for the rules of konoha, ITACHI is then my HERO,.. really guys, that guys gave everything up, his life, his dream, his love for his little brother, he had no choice, because his dad, captain of the military force was organizing a coup e tat to start another WAR, and he just couldnt take it anymore.. + being a double spy and everybody thought that he was bad but itachi always loved konoha above anything.. thats why i choose him.
