IRC is a chat programm. You have a channel where you can login too. It's a giant chatroom with all people logged in to that channel.

first you enter all this:

/nick Hand_Banana
/nickserv register password email (replace password with a password and email with your email ofc)
then you'll recieve a mail with an activation command
Enter the activation command.

whenever you want to login:

/nickserv identify password.

to join a channel

/join #mangashare
