Hidan was awe inspiring. Plain and simple.

Kakashi and Jman. They're cool no matter what, even in the face of death. Thats awe inspiring. Shika is awesome just cause he's the smartest dude in the manga. He killed an imortal. How does that happen? Pein is more ridiculous then awesome. Kakashi cant even make him break a sweat. Minato not only sealed the kyubii, but he split it in half. Awesome!

And no one can argue his coolness, that man was overdosed with coolness...
Even his name oozes of coolness, OROCHIMARU. You just know how dangerous it is.
And his attitude as a villain couldn't be more perfected.

But to be honest, I find Pain slightly cooler then Oro-sama.
Just because his pure ownage to every Uchiha!

first of all, nobody breaks limits like Shikamaru, i'm surprised so many have not recognized this pure fact... I mean come on now, we're talking two whole versions of naruto where he has proven himself to be much greater than the norm. He does all this without ridiculous strength or flashy ninjutsu, he single handedly took down Hidan from akatsuki and caused Hidan to attack his own partner thoroughly without anyone catching on! Orochimaru is great, pain is exciting, Kakashi is a thrill, but Shikamaru is AWESOME.
