I'm curious as to why Itachi is hanging around there. I wonder if he's checking up on his brother to see if he's alright.

High leve clone technique? You mean the shadow when they are extracting the bijuu? I think it only works for that Jutsu since all can be shadows depending of where they and who is with the Jinkurichi.

i highly doubt its a clone. he was too personal w/ naruto and was obviously following sasuke's scent also. maybe he missed his little brother?

I always had my beliefs that Itachi isn't as evil as we initially believe him to be. That's why I think he's there to check up on him.

i'm with you there Jink....maybe hes like one of those rats that was implanted by the hokage a long time ago to keep oro in check....then he fucked up and scared off oro and lost track of him so now he was stuck in akitsuki and could not get out since he knew how dangerous they were. so he decided to stick around and look for that opportunity to sabotage the organization....and of course he needed a back up plan in case he failed so he forces sasuke to pursue strength then when he was strong enuff, he explains everything to sasuke to what REALLY happened that night his clan was annihilated.
