The guy hasn't slept since birth. I am guessing that he will sleep for a good 2 or 3 years, and come out major powerful from it.

I know, I didn't mean you did. To become Kage you need to be first the strongest shinobi of your village. And I'm not talking a brute force, when I talk of strenght I talk about strenght in Naruto. I talk about everything (experience, skills, physical abilities, Stamina, etc..). The elders of Konoha accepted Tsunade because she was the only one stronger than Jiraiya and because as Deidara admitted she is better for the role than him. However Since Konoha is a military nation, they needed a strong leader. Pretty much to avoid beng attacked by another shinobi nation. By the way the two elders were part of Sandaime Hokage "sarutobi" team.

Actually Jiraiya-sama was first selected to be Hokage, but he said no to the position and said that Tsunade-sama would be a much better in terms of leadership. Man these references are similar to Harry Potter in a way lol. Gaara's mother protects him via automatic defense / Gaara's mark on his head/ Gaara's got no parents / Goes to ninja school....

Someone with a demon inside of him that will kill everyone you know and love if you fall asleep. Five bucks says that the rings around his eyes are going to dissappear now that he can sleep.

Well, i believe the first thing he did is find that girl he tried to give medicine to and visit her door. when she opened it, there was Gaara with the same bag of medicine, she smiles at the nostalgia of the gift only to be surprised that Gaara instead throws the bag in her face and tells her to go to hell. Then afterwards he decides to work on some new cool sand jutsu like that tidal wave of sand. He's probably hanging out with his brother and sister more to make up for lost time in fear and he's most of all enjoying the fact that not only is he no longer haunted by that beast, but he's also a ruler of a country. As a matter of fact, i'll even bet he's sipping a nice plate-thingy of Sake right now.

I believe he's training not only because he no longer has the automatic sand defense, but because his attacks will be a lot weaker. During the fight with Deidara, Gaara attacked him using Shukaku most of the time. The only reason Deidara had trouble with Gaara was because of Shukaku, without Shukaku Deidara would of beat Gaara in seconds.
