If you read the chapter again, it also seems like the Earl was afraid of the 14th, thats why he created the new ark (I think).

well there is definitely a fear associated with the 14th and the Earl because he made an attempt on the earls's life.

The reason why the Earl made a new ark, was because the 14th had "cursed" the previous one, making it impossible to operate for anyone besides himself.

No the reason that the Earl made a new ark is because the first one that was made was purely under the control of the 14th, and when the earl killed the 14th, the 14th had willed his ability to control the ark to someone else, and the Earl said that an ark that belongs to humans is no ark of his, thus a new ark was downloaded so that the Earl could control it freely.

There isn't a curse per se, but more like the will of the 14th coming for the Earl, that's why he called it a curse.

yeah i don't know about the others and considering there is supposed to be 13 of them in total we have yet to discover the true order in which they were born, but based on the Noah's who know about the 14th, we can assume that they were born within a time where he was still alive.

Judging by this explanation, I don't think the 14th could have been the first Noah.

Well....i personally think that the Earl could be Noah himself, esp with the recent issues showing that he is a human.
