3) Yamamoto succeeds in stopping the Invasion, but he's injured or somehow rendered incapable of further aiding SS.
I want this to happen too. He said that his power would even burn himself if prolonged. It's only fitting that the strongest shinigami would only lose to himself. That way, it won't hurt his character. The Quincies would retreat and just fight another day.
