It's just that when I visit Random Curiosity, it seems that 90% of the blogged shows involve ecchi element as one of its central themes.
I heard about that Japanese bill, banning all "inappropriate" anime/manga.
I feel that the anime industry is heading toward a dead end. The manga industry fairs little better.
It's just that there is no real incentive for talented individuals to go into the industry.
The only anime I am looking forward to is Code Geass season xxx. If KyotoAnimation decides to make something, I'll be sure to check that out as well.

Yar, I enjoy a good ecchi comedy for laughs, but then there's great series with not too many boobs or sex jokes.
Aria, Bakuman, Fractle, Gosick, Kimi ni Todoke, and Tegami Bachi are just a few in my currently watching list that are great, but have little to no ecchi elements.

-returns from the dead-
This is pretty much what turned me off from anime in 2010 and now. I want a show with some substance, even if it is going to trainwreck later.
quickscan of my external shows that the last time i downloaded anime was for Darker than Black and Angel Beats.
Fractale was an interesting concept this season but I'll reserve judgment on it until a few more episodes come out.
Rather than catching up with old animes, I find it more rewarding to catch up with old manga series.
Manga, unlike anime, stays consistent in quality throughout. The quality of an anime episode is a rollercoaster.
