I simply think that Danzou wants to take over Konoha and lead it to his principals. Nothing more, nothing less.

maybe danzou is not much into keeping things smooth..if there's a problem he wants to eliminate it at onece....sandaime was a bit more patience and gave people a chance...tsunade does too...he might become hokage after tsunade dies...maybe not for long...a revelion among konoha's ninja....sounds cool
