some fell a lil short of the list:

homunculus - very psychological, different from anything ive read so far
ichi the killer - this is probably the sickest one ive ever read. this is the one that makes u go, "WTF!"
akumetsu - i dont like politics, but this puts a real nice spin on it. alotta violence, alotta talkin
Deadman Wonderland - thanks to some people that put it on their list, i went out and read it (up to the end of volume 05). this is real good, im addicted to it. i love the art, and the story is incredible. they throw the story at you so u ask urself questions like, "who the hell is that and why r they there" and things like that. every chapter is better than the last.

yeah yeah, i knew u guys were gonna say that psyren is a shonen but i put it there bcuz i liked it alot and i was further in that than the other ones. but now its a much later time, i really enjoy wolf guy, it really washes away the gay fruity booty image vampires and werewolves thing from twilight, and makes it all gruesome and just...MENACING. wolf guy is gangsta. must read.

I just recently starting reading Psyren and its prob one of the best Shonen I ever read lol, anyone who hasn't seen it should check it out.

eh, I guess I only like 3 lol - mostly into Shonen and didn't care much for Hellsing, though the OVA's are really good.

Psyren is shounen.

A genre that is targeted specifically at older-aged males, typically in their mid twenties or so, and focus on darker themes and have less 'super powers' than are featured strongly in Shonen series.I've only tried reading ES out of these ones so I'll go with that.My top 5 favourite are here.
