I do agree that Naruto couldn't beat a Akatsuki member 1-on-1. What happened with Kakuzu was a fluke to a certain degree. He was dead the moment the Fuuton Rasengan missed and Kakashi and Tenzou had to save him. In a real fight there is no one looking after you so you can try again. Also like previously mentioned he had lost 2 hearts. Why those this weaken him, because he lost 2 elemental attacks there. He was using elemental attacks on everyone, powerful enough to match Raikiri, so they were the "1 hit-KO" type jutsu's.
Since he had lost 2 hearts he had to fight a bit more close combat cause he was protecting his remainning hearts within him.
Sasori would had raped Naruto, Deidara would had made Naruto his bitch (even when he had 1 arm), Itachi has schooled Naruto 2 times already, Kisame would have Naruto for lunch, Hidan would have loved to inflict some pain on Naruto, Zetsu probably would eat Naruto, Tobi... hhmm he would had start playing jokes on Naruto, Pein WILL own Naruto in a near future and the girl would probably make Naruto shine her boots.

With or without fox... You do kn ow this guys already beat 7 of 9 Bijuu just like Naruto.. GAARA ON A DESERT NO LESS... the fact that he realeses is not much of a problem to Akatsuki.

If Kakuzu would have been able to use a fire-based jutsu on Naruto, the Futon Rasengan would have probably been dispersed/destroyed/whatever because of the elemental advantage. He already lost two hearts before facing Naruto, so it really wasn't a fair fight.

a) Kazuku can RANGE with his mask with 4 different element.
Naruto needs to go MELEE with his one and only attack Rasengan.

b) Kazuku got 5 lifes.
Naruto cant kill him 5 times.

c) Naruto has a LIMIT to how much times he used Futon Rasengan
(overuse = DEAD naruto)
Even if Naruto took out all his hearts, by that time Naruto is a goner.

d) during the fight Kazuku was standing there doing nothing, he didn't try
(in a real fight, they would be moving around and Kakuzu ranging)
Naruto won't even have a chance to charge it up or hitting with Futon Rasengan.

and my point is not if Futon Rasengan is AoE splash dmg or not, it's to actually land it when Kakuzu is ranging.

even Kakashi can only land one Raikiri on him during his ambush, at other times, he's busy blocking the range elemental attack
and how do you suppose Naruto defend against them? spamming Futon Rasengan and dies from overuse?
