I don't know after Final Fantasy IX, story wise, I think the series took a downfall. XII and X were just fine.

Its EASILY a tie between Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. Both games are done by some of the most creative and innovative minds in the industry. Both have rising to the top of their respective genres. Both have amazing storylines that keep you hooked(Metal Gears storyline is on a level beyond ANYTHING in the videogame industry, EVER) and finally, fans consider both games "experiences".

I agree with this 100%. Metal Gear and Final Fantasy are the top of my list, but if I had to choose one, it'd be Final Fantasy...but only because it was the first game I ever played.

having alot of games doesn't make it great. I thought alot of those games sucked.
I really enjoyed the Resident Evil franchise.
Also some of my favorite games came from the Zelda franchise.
I absolutely can't say anything bad about the mario franchise.

Just curious, would the Kingdom Hearts games fall under Final Fantasy. They were my favorite.

Also I believe one franchise is definately missing and should be added. I see that others have mentioned some missing ones but I don't think this list should exist without
DragonQuest. If that was on the list I probably would have voted for it. I love their games and find them more enjoyable then FF games.

All I'm trying to point out with that list is that if your games sucked, no producers, develepors etc. would want their hand in such a product or allow you to go ahead with such a project. For there to have been so many FF's shows that they've been doing something right. There's no way you could have made 20+ games, if your games were shit.

Would anyone else agree, not that DragonQuest should win, but that it's good enough to be on the list.
Games like Resident Evil didn't even start production until the PS one.
DragonQuest has been around since the NES and in my opinion is still going strong.
