Itachi's defeat

I'll merge this thread with the other one about Itachi's death.

@Phixion: I think there should be more options in the poll.

Seems highly unlikely to be a clone actually, Itachi used everything (?) he had in his arsenal, he even said so himself. If I were Sasuke I'd make sure he's dead by checking for signs of life and maybe cutting his throat but I doubt he'll do that... x)

Itachi beeing injured before the fight seems unlikely too, when and where could that have happened? It must've been before Itachi approached Naruto, if that's the case, and Itachi had plenty of time to recover before the fight against Sasuke.

i voted for other
highly doubt it was a pein's shoten no jutsu clone, cuz itachi did a lot of jutsu (including his 3 strongest ones) so he couldn't have been using like 30% chakra, n i doubt he using 99% chakra for the clone, cuz the actual itachi with like 1% chakra would probably die
i dont think he was attacked by someone beforehand, its just a gut feeling
for the other option, i think it has 2 do w/ oro's poison

Zetsu said that he was weakened from the start of the fight.

Itachi was dying in the first place. In asian culture TB(Consumption/Tuberculosis) is
famous of killing people. If I recall Itachi coughed a lot.
He did not fight anyone prior to Sasuke more than likely.
The symptoms look internal by either poison or by TB. It's most likely
TB. Itachi knew he probably had little time, but not sure how long.
In ch 390 Itachi coughs without getting hit(during Sasuke slips into the crap)
If it was his eye technique Amaterasu, then he would have gripped his eye like he did during Tsukiyomi, but he coughed up blood several times after during the fight.
Itachi wanted Sasuke to get MS pretty badly.
Itachi wanted Madara dead.
Itachi probably knew he himself would die pretty soon.
If it is indeed true that Itachi knew this, then he knew he was going into
a losing fight and would most likely die, but why?

mh i guess if it's the real Itachi he must be hurt before the emo appears to fight him. But who attacked him or what the hell happened if it wasn't an attack. Maybe Madara poisoned him? We read earlier that he is more interested in Sasuke then in Itachi.
Also we have seen Kisame and Itachi using "clones", other bodies with their abilities etc etc like puppets. May it be that Itachi just created one of these?
