    You're crazy.

I respect that some games is just horrible - but Fable is not in any way one of them!

Fable is ranked as one of the best xbox games of all times. I don't know what happened, but it should satisfy you with its incredible depth, open-ended game play, and a solid story that gets even better about half-way through the adventure. It got over 50 rewards as well.

    So, either you're a special case 1/600.000 - or you're a Sony fanboy!

No disrespect here, but I just find your "it's bullshit!" extremely thin for a reason. If you think it's horrible at least say why.

Fable was decent and the age thing was unique but other than that everything else about it has been done before and better. The action based battle was done better in Tales of Symphonia and the morality system was about 10x better in another Xbox RPG, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Hell the battle system was better in KOTOR as well. The story was also quite the fantasy cliche, especially when The Lost Chapters came about and they decided to make the final boss a freaking dragon.

Fable was an alright game, don't get me wrong. But considering it as one of the best Xbox games ever? I can't agree with that.

Props to Ravona for the awesome sig! Noel is the greatest and I challenge you to prove me otherwise!

Fair enough, you got a reason for it

I'm a hardcore KOTOR fan, and you can't really compare the two - They're both awesome games, but developed by two completely different studios.... And Tales of Symphonia is for Gamecube dude...

And - ToS came out in 2003, Fable in 2004, they were basically under development at the same time at some point. So I doubt LionHead tried to copy anything. (if that's what you're hinting towards) - Edit: After watching some gameplay on YouTube, I conclude that the fighting is nothing similar.

But as I usually say, everyone likes different things. But if you're gonna say something's horrible, have a good reason for it! (Not referring to you Arisato)

    Ok a few quick reasons:

With both Fable's, the morality system was flawed in that there were no real consequences. As long as you manipulate people in the right way, you can easily undo the effects of any gameplay choices you made. Making the morality system irrelevant.

Fable 1: The game scenerios are linear, and uninteresting. You're essentially walking down a predetermined path fighting a small variety of enemies until you reach the end of the dungeon/path to fight a boss that requires almost no tactical planning. There are no other objectives except for the occasional escort quest which entails the same thing as a regular quest

    Arisato covered the story.

The spouse system is just stupid. All you're doing is giving a specific npc a new way to react to you. There's no actual benefit or added layer of depth to the game. Just like most of the game, I consider it passable.

The combat is clunky, and stale. You'll find little reason to experiment with any of the small variety of weapons because they are all the same, or they're just inferior to one type. The only difference being the speed of which you hit, and the damage. Even the legendary weapons suffer from this lack of weapon niches.

The controls are also clunky. Most nootably rolling and parrying. Since you cant alter its course of direction mid animation, and you have to wait for the animation to be completed to do a next one, it becomes very imprecise and slow.

Then there is a HUGE gameplay flaw in that you can max out your exp early on in the game because the save system could be abused. Making an already unchallenging game a cakewalk beyond compare.

there are other small problems that I dont want to go in detail with so I'll move on to Fable 2:

Granted, this game was a massive overhaul of the first game world. Its bigger, and the combat is on a whole different level. But it suffers from the same flaws as the first one.

Again, the gameplay scenerios involve little thinking, and end up becoming a beat em' up as you battle your way through a predetermined course, with very little reason to break off to another path. There are a few times where you need to apply some thinking, to get a task done. But those moments are so rare, and not intergrated with the core quest that it doesnt outweight the rest of the game.

By far, one of the worst elements in the game is the death system. OMG who thought that Fable was soo hard and challenging that they had to make it impossible for you to die? I mean, the game poses no serious challenge to begin with. Maybe you'll die twice if you're not paying attention, but really, the enemies can be avoided with such ease, and are easily blitzed. The only consequence is scaring, which takes away from your attraction. But in reality, there's a way to erase that, and the economical system as I'll describe below, is so broken that you can essentially buy your way out of any problem in the game.

The economic system as I alluded to previously, is absolutely horrible. Since you earn money all the time provided that your 360 is plugged in the damn wall! Plus, the only thing you'll be using money for anyway is owning businesses, which in turn, make you more money. So really, if you buy 1 business, its only a matter of time until money becomes insignificant.

The spouse system is equally unsatisfying. Hell just take my reason for the first game and replace it.

The "family" you have in the game is operated by minigames and giving items to them. Blow me.

I know Arisato covered the story, but I really need to adress something I thought killed the game for me. Lack of any kind of developement at all.
Specifically Lucien. He is the main villain of the game. You know almost all you need to know from the beginning of the game about him. He's gone mad because his duaghter or whatever die and now he's warped to believe that the destruction of everything, or recreation of it or whatever its not even important. There are no twists and turns in his plan, no change of heart or action, and no other dimension to his personality other than he is mad and powerful. Now, if the game had deep and interesting supporting characters, this wouldn't be an issue since contrasting elements is a good thing. But NOPE! Everyone else is as bland and one dimensional and cliched as Lucien. No one learns, no one feels or expresses deep feelings or emotions. The characters are only given a background, and a basic premise, and you will know more about a character before actually meeeting or questing with them, because their actions and personality are entirely predetermined and you will come to find out that they never change even a bit.

Okay what else... oh yeah. The side quests. Oh how utterly boring you are. Go here, and kill this set of enemies. Go there and...kill that set of enemies. go over there and perform some repetetive minigame to complete this quest. Go over there and...kill that set of enemeis. Only this time pick up that item.

Almost nothing you do in this game changes the world you live in, has any true consequences, and affects you own character developement.
But if you found the game enjoyable and fun, well you're entitled to your opinion as am I. This is what my experience was with the game, and I dont care how many awards the game won, its still the worst game I was tricked into buying.

Fable is a very ambitious game with a load of potential. But its not polished, or a fleshed out world and its many flaws just highlight the amount of work that needs to be done to make it truly great. Thats why Im looking foward to Fable 3. Well back to playing Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion now.
