Worst game you have ever been tricked into buying?

This thread is why I always tend to rent before I buy and if thats not possible I surf the net for reviews about the game.


I dont think I have been tricked into buying a bad game but I have bought one that I heard was bad but the old school fanboy excitement of having the game overided the part of my brain that said maybe this is not a good idea. It was Robotech for the gamecube what a load of crap.

Another game I knew was bad but was desperate for an RPG at the time was Beyond the Beyond for the PS1 the very first rpg released in the US for that system. This game was tedious with a random battle every 3 seconds...

The Bouncer for PS2. I was reading about it like crazy. Lots of promises about destructible environments, etc. Needless to say I was very excited about getting this game ...

Short and extremely repetitive (you had to beat the game over and over again to unlock new stuff). The only thing it had going was it's awesome graphics (awesome at the time).

It was my first PS2 game too ;_;

After a while? I shut that game off as soon as I got out of the 1st dungeon and had to swim to the first town. Laughing at the voice acting is the only fun to be had.

This was a game I always wanted, but for some reasons couldn't afford it.
But then a friend sold it to me for 10 Euros, so I'm not that dissapointed since I didn't pay so much for it. But if I had bought it for like 40-50 Euro, I surely would have been pissed.
