i've seen some ISP that add an icon under control panel-->network connections giving the exact DL/UL speeds...i use DUmeter and it shows the exact speeds too
tonight the speed has gotten remarkably high...maybe a lot of students aren't connected in this line lucky me
Just ran mine on speedtest.net - 669kbps
Not particularly bothered about my speed. I'm more concerned about my download limit. My isp currently changed their options so when i moved flats and had to get reconnected i found myself paying £8 more for no download limit.

I currently own 3 connections at various locations. Time to list them.
Plan: 20M/1M DSL
Data: fair use.
What do I get: 14M/1.5M
Special notes: Throttled torrents during peek times. Drop in connection during peek times.
Mark: 4/10 for shitty service.
Location: home 2 (I have 2 houses)
Plan: 4M/1M DSL
Data: fair use.
What do I get: 4M/1M
Special notes: It's cheap.
Mark 8/10 for being cheap and getting what I pay for.
Location: The office.
Plan 100M/100M fiber
Data: 4 TB
Price: ~undisclosed, but more than most of you can afford.
What do I get: ~90M/80M to the internet (you hardly get these speeds, my record has been 7 MB/s fromt he Microsoft update server).
Special notes: Mostly used for work related stuff, uploading huge raws, 400 meg TIFFS etc etc.
Mark: 7/10 for superb speed, but at a high price and sometimes I break my 4TB limit and I pay dearly for it.
The 20M/1M line will be dropped soon as I will be moving to house 2 for a more permanent period.
@xeperu: O_o the pffice connection is incredible...you must be rich
i use the students line in a private building and it started at 550kb/s
they did a little upgrade and it became 3Mb/s
now,for some reasons i am getting 12Mb/s ... without DL accelerators or any tricky manipulations
always without data limit and at 8.5 euros
