The Theory of Guns in NARUTO

    Friends and Fellow Narutards:

I'd like to invite you all (anyone that cares) to post your contention, belief, insight, bias, or anything else, about guns and referremces to guns in Naruto.

    Rules:

You are free to argue using your knowledge on the appearance, references and usage of GUNS in the Manga.

You May not use insults, call people names (No...Lame...Stupid...Retarded etc).

Try to make your best argument in one post.

Lets still be friends till the next argument erupts

The main problem with guns is that KISHIMOTO himself said there wouldn't be any, he said so because it would be impractical as few Ninjas could move fast enough to evade bullets, and by implication, it would allow a weak Ninja to overpower more powerfull ones.

Having said this, Kishi should remain consistent and watch his references to Guns in the story.

Logically: If there are no guns, then no one should make references to guns, except the inventor of guns. If there are guns then how come no one is using them in an all out struggle/War.

    Theory:

    1) It could be that some Manga-Wide force is in effect preventing the function of firearms.

    2) It could be that Some Ninjas have been able to glimpse a future where there will be guns, and have been able to create jutsus to mimic the function of guns.

I have laid out theories that would allow there to be guns. If Kishi has changed his mind I look forward to him giving a definitive rule that explains the role of firearms and references to such in the Manga.

These are my theories to allow guns and references to guns in the story.

Earlier on in the series kishimoto said that the narutoverse was in present time so im sure there are guns out there its just the ninja's don't use them.

Or if i'm mistaken and he said guns wouldn't appear in his manga he might have just changed his mind since he said the same thing about samurai

Guns actually appeared in the naruto one-shot

Yea I was thinking of the guns in the one shot but none have been shown in the almost completely revised first chapter til present so still not seeing them as being a part of the manga at this point.

Side note- a gun gesture in naruto made more of a controversy than ichigo and his swastika's odd stuff lol.

To paul- there will be name calling and such after a bit since this miniscule gesture has caused pages of raging.

Are you guys even sure that the proper translation is ''gun''?

    @ McFry
A little off topic but the swastika, I believe is originally from either the Hindu religion or Buddhist religion, and it means peace. The Nazi's stole it.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

That begs the questions of :

    1) How come no one has fired a gun if they had one. Recall that this was the Naruto Bridge/Zabuza arc, where the villagers rose up to fight the bad guys, and none of them brought a gun to the fight. Why has no one in the story (after 10yrs), whether ordinary people, Samurai, or Ninjas ever used a firearm, even after 3 Ninja wars?

    2) Is that in fact or indeed a gun (as far as the story is concerned) even though it resembles one?

    3) Why did Kishi state that there are no guns, then he draws one? Just what is he up To? Was that an error, a teaser, or was he in fact at one time considering introducing firearms into the Manga?

If Kishi had just gone with water shot there wouldn't be so much division.

As to my understanding of the Narutoverse and it's comprehension and utilization of technology, Kishi has been pretty vague as to how advanced Shinobi are in that respect. The existence of recording monitors as shown in the Chunin Exams' Forest of Death portion, Com links/radio transmitters being used between squads, and the existence of Casinos and gambling machines show there is some semblance of technology in place, but makes it hard to gauge just how far along they are and how they stack up in comparison to our modern day society. You'd think that if they have monitors, then surely they could have TV right?

Things like cars and planes obviously haven't been referred to so I can't say they're technologically inclined, but at the same time they aren't savages who have no know how on the subject either. The series has always been firmly rooted in the ninja arts and the involvement of spirits ranging from animals to demons, having a more pronounced foot in technology may not have been in line with Kishi's vision.

Guns have never been mentioned plot-wise so I find it hard to support the conjecture that they exist, though that could simply be the result of ninja arts surpassing them and rendering them useless in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I think they don't exist, and if they do they're considered obsolete by virtually everyone.

As long as everything just keeps on flowing forward, then that's already enough.

i just think he ignores guns. i do not think there is some grand reason that they are not used i think he just leaves them out. in other words thats just something that he does, no real reason or anything like that.

yea he did, i think he said guns would conflict with ninjutsu in his world and would be a contrictory. For example why learn struggle to learn ninjutsu when u can get easy power with guns.

Tt this point kishi has transeded the power of meere guns in his story. I cant see where a gun would affective against most of these powerful shinibo in the story.
