Not a bad chapter, but the running theme of the ET zombies being shadows of their former selves, since they lost their humanity/will/ghost is still being played out, or is it just Kabuto cannot control that many at once?. Mifune was a bit of a suprise, but the Samurai had to have had some skills in order to mix it with the Ninja.

I really hope when the ISC trio fight Asuma, we dont have to sit through a chapter of them showing the exact same moves as we have seen numberous times. Hopefully Ino will be killed....

    Haha Hanzou got schooled!
Good to see Mifune kick some butt, even if it cheapens Hanzou's rep for him to be beaten in just one chapter.
I liked the flashback showing Hanzou just before he was destroyed by Pain.

I'll be interested to see how Kimimaro is dealt with considering how when he fought Gaara and Lee he appeared to be an unstoppable beast.

People are like swords. If they don't continue to put their lives on the line for whatever they believe in and sharpen themselves they turn blunt and dull. They become like Hanzou. Mifune never gave up on his faith and surpassed Hanzou, thus kicking his ass in this fight.

I liked the fight but I realize Kishi managed to cheapen Pein's victory over Hanzou. If Hanzou was just a dull blade by the time Pein beat him then the story of Pein beating Hanzou and all his cronies singlehandedly isn't that impressive anymore.

I actually didn't think this chapter was terrible. If only, if only, IF ONLY these characters had been better developed. A few things though:

-Yeah, guy who beat the Sannin being easily taken down by old samurai guy was pretty broken
-"Ninjutsu won't work on him because he can interrupt the hand signals!" ....uh, yeah, except when he's up against ninjutsu that don't use hand signals.

When i look on page 19,
in this scene Mifune remindes me of the first Hokage, a lil bit :-P

Compared to chapter 462 page 13 it is also the same stance ^^

    - What a great color page make me wish the whole manga was in color...

    - I dont care how you slice it when you have Ninja vs Samurai there is only awesome !!

    - lol Chiyo giving away Hanzou's secrets I like

    - I wonder what the salamanders name Ibuse means

    - So Hanzou wanted to unite the shinobi world as well thats why him and Danzou worked together.

    - I see there was a flashback sequence towards the end with Hanzou shirtless fighting a young Mifune

This was some cool sht so much for Samurai not being able to match Shinobi but the fight might not be over yet.

    *Edit Also note:

For those who think Hanzou is being downplayed a bit here well that is part of the theme that he is not as sharp as he used to be. However the Sannin at that time where not as powerful as Sasuke or Naruto currently are they where probably at Kakashi's level at the time they faced Hanzou.

As part of the theme is the next generation surpassing he previous just as Hiruzen surpassed the previous 2 Kages and Minato would have surpassed the 3rd if he lived longer.

Yep! I agree totally. What will Mifune do Vs Uchiha Itachi, Sasuke, Madara? or Vs Orochimaru or any other Long/Mid Range ninjutsu user?

In any case, this is an empty victory because Hanzou is a Zombie, and hell be right back if Mifune can't seal him.

    Average chapter....

I was expecting a little more Asuma vs. ISC, but we get next i think....

Everybody gets old and rusty, if they stay still and do nothing, i think that was what Pein and Mifune was talking about. Hanzou lost his dream, stopped fighting for what he believed.

Mifune is really good, but i don't think he would last against some of the S class.

Let's see how they are going to seal/trap Hanzou, because just a slash is not going to stop him.

Team Kabuto is loosing hard and fast, how long before Madara decides to dispense with him? That should be interesting. What I am really wondering about is what plot tool does Kishimoto want to intrduce with this whole Kabuto diversion?

So, Hanzou was blunt when he fought Pain and rust when he was a zombie, in other words the current Hanzou is 1/4 of his prime.

I see that Kankuro has some poison resistance after all, to be still on his legs when everyone else is down.

On the other hand Kimimaro seems to be in his top shape, he might own a few A-S class ninjas the same way he owned the Third Kazekage with Oro.
