well the thing is i see him as a douche because he is not really doing any thing to help matters. and you implying that what he is doing will actually help down the road which almost none of it will.

Makes sense Except you don't know if it will help matters down the road or not. That is the meaning of down the road. a long time from now. If you read the rest of my post though, like I said there were so many underlying problems that just kept escalating and escalating to that fabled "breaking point" that they would just completely need to be resolved anyway or any other measures to sidestep it would just result in the slow roll towards a bleak future. We are at that point now, and pretty much secretly reached it somewhere in the middle of Bush's presidency. This meant that for the country anyway that whoever followed bush would be the fall guy no matter if he had somehow temporarily improved stuff dramatically. But to completely resolve them would take too much time and possibly decades. Therefore the thing that a president could only hope to do is try to solve the most immediate problems which also happen to be the most public problems. No matter the methods that they or Obama used, in the long run it would not matter because they just cured a symptom of the original disease.
Not saying that this was a good or bad decision on Obama's part but that he had to do something, and no matter how it turns out, any other possible solution , odds are would have just been equally effective, or equally ineffective as the case might be. But the truth is whoever followed Bush no matter who, doubt they would have improved the situation to a visible significant point anyways. And if they hadn't would you be saying the same exact things about them, really?
Exactly you see him as a douche yet Bush who also effectively did nothing but help push it to this point is cool with you?

The funny thing is that the Soviet Union was spending 40% of their GNP on the military. We were spending 8%. Reagan wanted to increase it to 16%. Our 8% was equivalent monetarily to their 40%. This increase in spending put the Nomenklatura on edge. Their spies were all over our government in positions of power, and told them that in a ground war our military would crush theirs before the spending increase. They were left with a dichotomy: start the nuclear apocalypse or allow Gorbachev to come in with Glasnost and Perestroika. They chose Gorbachev and it lead to the fall.
