He's already on everything else in Japan. One Piece is already the thing I've seen most while in Japan, it's insanely popular and this will only make it more.

Wow, did you just compare a novel to a manga? ...
*edit* cause it interested me.. Harry Potter - As of June 2008, the book series has sold more than 400 million copies and has been translated into 67 languages,[2][3] and the last four books have consecutively set records as the fastest-selling books in history.
    Book 3 alone had 180million copies sold world-wide.. o.O
Though, the info is from wiki... so i dont know how reliable it is.. :-p
The bible apparently has 2.5billion copies sold.. lol..
Oda is amazing, though. I wonder if they did the same thing for Dragon Ball. *end edit*

And i hope it isnt luffy on the playboy cover.. they should have robin/nami/other op girls on it... :-/

Do you even know the meaning of the word Novel? Manga categorized under that.

Harry Potter is overrated world wide while One Piece is underrated worldwide.

Its like comparing Justin Bieber and Stevie Wonder.

Whoa you brought up the sales lol, i didn't think harry potter sold that much but one piece still shits on it regardless.

I read all 7 harry potter books and i honestly don't see what the big deal is.

But congratulations to eiichiro oda when you think its impossible for him to get more famous he does.

Comparing a manga to a written novel is legit, but it's not really "fair."

Comics/manga/graphic novels typically do not sell as well as written novels - it's actually really amazing that One Piece sold 200 million copies overall, even when you consider the fact that it has like a bajillion volumes and that figure is for all of them together. Drawn entertainment is seen as more base and not worth it (and more overpriced) than written material and is also much more frequently pirated/stolen, so that hurts sales a lot.

I'm too lazy to look up statistics myself, but I would like to see what One Piece looks like in comparison to other popular comics, to get a better idea of how big a deal 200 million copies is.
