he didn't GET a core...he never got it destroyed in the first place. Oboro said he couldn't get the core out of Tatsuo's body without killing him...and so Tatsuo went on to try and find a way to live replenishing the core or something. And find his card...?

In MH it's been comented that Matsuri may have:
1) Died (obvious anwer, given the children's faces)
2) Turned evil (if she had just died, there would be no need for Lan to explain them what happened, Elmore and the children could have just said it).
