You guys don't know anything. Portgas D. Rouge was Ivankov twin sister(look at the curly hair). Rouge's child was a girl and named her Ann. But then, she had a sudden change of mind and asked her twin sis to change her to a boy and there comes Ace. Googled it if you don't believe it.
Rule of the thumb in OP is that if your not sure of someones gender, he/she must be related to Ivankov.
