How strong do you think Hitsugaya is?

Ok a lot of people in these forums have in my opinion underrated Hitsuguya so I want a vote on what everyone thinks.
I wasn't looking when I was typing so I kinda mistyped great but most if not all should get the idea.

sure he looks cool and got a sick bankai,
but that doesnt change the fact that he also sucks really hard.

C'mon give him some damn credit he joined Gotei 13 for less then 50 years. He's the youngest Captain ever! He may not be the strongest now but he's got some serious potential. Plus he looks damn cool so he's my second favorite. Of course Byakuya is my first.

Overrated for sure. He fights plenty of battles, but he got raped by Aizen and even almost lost to Gin (while Hitsugaya was in Bankai and Gin barely even used his Shikai!). Just because he gets lots of air time doesn't make him strong >_<

It's freaking Aizen he's a damn exception, but I demand some proof of Hitsuguya almost losing to Gin and that he was in his bankai. Both those statements are false. In Hitsuguya's encounter he froze Ichimaru's leg or something and Ichimaru tried to attack Hinamori and used that time to escape. And Hitsuguya was not in bankai at the time.

he used to be one of my favorite characters but then grimjaw, ulqui, then my all time fave, SHINJI HIRAKO haha
i think he's an average captain btw and he'll stay that way

Totally overrated, all I've seen about him in the manga and the anime is disappointing. Dunno how the hell is he a captain.

Well, most of the other captains have been around a while. From Hinamori's flashback, Hitsuyaga clearly didn't become a shinigami till after Hinamori. Hinamori graduated alongside Renji, and despite his talent with swords, he didn't achieve bankai until recently. With the exception of Ichigo and Urahara, who learned their bankai in 3 days (ridiculous), I'd say Hitsuyaga got his bankai, gained power, and rose through the ranks more quickly than any. If nothing else, he can still gain more experience.

Besides that, Hyourinmaru is the strongest ice-type in all of Soul Society. That title didn't come out of nowhere. I'd say with enough time, he could gain considerable amount of power.

I'll admit, compared to the arrancar, he is somewhat dwarfed, but then, so is Ichigo before he gets his mask. I mean, come on, be reasonable.
