How do Shinigami fly?

This has always been very confusing for me. They never explained why or how the shinigami just float in the air like that. I mean what's the point of Toshiro doing his bankai and getting wings if every other Shinigami can fly without wings?

They're Gods of Death. And since it's a fantasy shonen, everything is possible and "simple" things like that don't need any explanation

Yea, but even DBZ had an explanation for why they could fly. In the first few episodes of Bleach, Ichigo couldn't fly at all, and now suddenly he can.

some are able to fly, as we saw by grimmjow.. but other than that, they stand and jump on spirit particles that are in the air and thats why sometimes it looks like they fly

erm, they're shinigamis, so they're spirits , no need to go further.

they all have a certain level of spirit manipulation. they manipulate spirit particles as a surface to walk on air. besides, they're spirits.. they should be able to float right?LOL

Yea, but how can you stand upside down on a spirit particle? The Vizard, Shinji was doing that. If you say that Shinigami are spirits, then you might as well say they can walk through walls and go underground too. In DBZ, ppl used their ki against the ground to fly, calling Bukujutsu. In Naruto, it's chakra against a surface like water or wood, so they can walk on water or climb up trees. If in Bleach, it is spirit particles, are they using their reiatsu to cling to spirit particles?

didnt shinji said his specialty was something like the opposite of everything?

that explains why he was upside down lol and his water too =\
