It should be pretty obvious at this point that Madara didn't die at all against Hashirama. I don't even think he was revived several times; he just flat-out escaped somehow, dying later on after he'd awakened his Rinnegan (after preparing things with Nagato and leaving his plans in the hands of Tobi). His death was decades after his battle with Hashirama.
