Best sacrificial character (MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!)

These are characters that are designed to die. Their deaths move the story along and in the best cases have an emotional impact on the main character. Sometimes they are an important figure in the story not completely related to character but pushes the story into a specific direction in many ways they are sometimes considered secondary characters. IMO the best sacrifice are the ones that were emotionally connected to the main character. I want to know who is the best sacrificial character out there and it could be one that we presume dead like in Avatar (Jet i know not a manga or anime) or in One Piece where the characters dont always die in plain sight of the audience. If you want you can include characters that were brought back to life if you give a good reason.

Only three deaths in manga have moved me. Sandaime Hokage, Natsume Shin from Tenjou Tenge and Hughes from FMA. I would have thought Shin fits joshecalpoly's brief better than Hughes as the entire manga revolves around his death. Plus he was was being set up.

So basically, this is a 'Who's death meant more in character's manga/anime', right? If that's the case, Jiraiya's death was a pretty good one. There was a lot of meaning in his fight against Pein up until he when he died.

Well Lelouch definitely death did impact the full story line but since Shirley's death and Rolos death pushed him in that direction just IMO ild say those are better sacrificial but thats just me.

I got to say Hughes death was huge for me. It did lead Roy to investigate his death along with Winry and I got to say a sacrificial character who makes everyone cry when they die that the writer has to apologize may not always impact the story but it pulls at the heart strings. Shin's death definitely was a major impact on the story with his connections and how he died. Naruto has a few good sacrificial characters that have pushed the story in different directions and Kamina has one of the best lines ive seen in anime and his "bro" was impacted by his death. My personal favorite is Kaworu Nagisa. I think Shinji killing him and him being the only person who showed true affection towards Shinji helped lead to his fractured state.
