It's called foreshadowing since Jiraiya's basically finished, and Naruto has matured. It's about time he died. The only reason he wouldn't would be if kishimoto can't find the balls to do it again.

ive found an interesting post on mangahelpers

ok... alot of things being said here so im gona try and tackle a few things...
first of all ppl think that the current body pain transfered to is fat or at least seems to be fat from the close up we get of his face. i agree that one of the 6 bodies does seem to be fat (closest one to the left) but i dont think we can assume that this is the body pain transfers to is the same one. some ppl see it as if he has a fat or double-chin, this is not so. we actually cannot see anything past his lips, heres a little something i threw together to illustrate.

Notice were the akatsuki uniform starts to cover the face in the encircled area.



here ive outlined were i believe the akatsuki uniform covers the face (roughly). notice that the part of the shadow that ppl thought was a fat chin is actually part of the clothing. starts right at the lips and moved down the body. their also seems to be a small cut in the clothing were the mouth is and thats why we it seems like its part of the lip followed by a disgruntled chin. added the headband cuz i got bored.


as you can now see we simply cannot see the actually chin or neck from that angle; therefor we cant say that the new body is fat based on this close up. i wont deny the existence of a seemingly fat body as i mentioned earlier, hell it could even be hanzou's body for all i know (doubt it).

to the ppl saying it will be hanzou's body: how would the ppl of the village feel if they saw hanzou running around beating up random ninjas hmm? didnt pain supposedly kill him? wouldnt they be like "ZoMFg WTF pain is a big F@T lair!1211! lets kick his nubzor ass and take his lunch muniez!1211@!" ?
soooo ya.... unless they fight in another dimension and pain can simply teleport like goku to jiraiyas location, someone is bound to see him (example: 2 noob ninjas).

with that settled i would have to agree with the first spoiler, because it seems to make sense in a way. i dont think however that the bodies are robots or androids of some sort simply because the spoiler stated them to be "artificial bodies" and "puppets". ppl jumped to the conclusion that these must be robots or clones but i think that they are niether. The anceint civilization seems to be extremely advanced in technology and such; however this doesnt mean they were making robots. it was probably somthing on the genetic level, in other words test tube babies. they altered and refined the genetic structure of each bodies characteristics to make a body which excelled in a certain aspect(s) and had different chakra affinities. Maybe he switched bodies because he wanted to have a different chakra affinity (one which is best against jiraiya)?. Also it is safe to assume that the ancients had strong jutsu, which would be the reason why pains bodies are everlasting, it could be a jutsu combined with some type of body preserving machine(the things he sleeps in? the whole room?). We've already seen oro try this, and as another person stated there are multiple characters who have semi-immortality that are still somewhat human.

i also think kishi enjoys creating this type of being (neither human nor monster nor machine), a sort of enigmatic species if you will.
examples:
-Sasori is as he stated "neither human nor puppet" (machine/human?)
-Orochimaru is a giant snake however he is still a human or else he would not need to take the form/body of another human to continue living. (monster/human?)
-kabuto is... well shit i dunno wtf he is but ya hes definatly not JUST a human anymore. (freak?)
-and ppl said were getting into sci-fi now LOL!

pain could be the next being on kishis list as a spirit/artificial human mix thing.
I believe pain was created as a superior being which exists in a spiritual or mental state but can take physical form when he wills it (demi-god? in refrence to the noob ninja calling him a god). afterall this would be the only way to in a sense defeat the bijuu, because they are obviously god-like in the fact that they possess immeasurable chakra and exist on the spiritual level as well as the physical. explains why the current villages learned that sealing the bijuu in humans was the only way to stop them, atleast for a while, not to mention attempt to use them in wars. Here we see why the ancient civilizations were superior to the current civilization, they didnt want to capture the bijuu and use them for wars but actually destroy them and wipe them from existance. this indicates that the ancients were thinking at a level beyond petty wars; they wanted to rid the world of the bijuus evil not harness it. thus using there immense knowledge to create the ultimate bijuu counter.

SO basically pain is a test-tube human/spiritual being with god-like abilities. I mean shit, he can just make walls open up with a flick of his wrist, make rain, sense ppl with it, change bodies at will, and defeat 1337 ninjas single-handedly. He would have to be on the demi-god level ATLEAST.

i think im done rambling now...

just noticed the 3rd spoiler, havent read it yet, this post was written before it appeared so ill comment on that later maybe...

Yea, but wasn't he just collecting the rings? I think the bodies are the actual bodies of the strongest living Akatsuke members and he is using the jutsu he used with Itachi and Kissiboy when team Kekashi and granny were coming for Gaara for those Akatsuke members. Letting them search and fight while keeping their bodies safe at his hideout.
