What hasn't been done yet?

I am a bit into writing as a hobby and kind of want to write a really good fiction book, script for a tv show, or maybe a movie script. Something along those lines. Yet, I also want to be original, but whenever I try to think of something new, it seems everything has been done already.

In that case, what hasn't been done yet?

BTW, its not like I wanna profit off anybody here, I just want to get ideas to help my brain to get going.

Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson. This is one of my favourite books the main character is a hacker/samurai/pizza delivery man. Truly a great book.

this is going to sound over stated, but a novel / short story following a kenshin-ish character. I loved the series but there is nothing to fill the void. For your information i enjoyed the OVA's taking place in the Edo era very much.

Since that was most likely not at all what you wanted i'll add general stories that have not been done, or done often.

A story about nothing. (think Seinfeld)

Post Apocalyptic where the main characters have common sense.

i'm gonna think about all these things you all said
"alien viking"??? lol.. that actually gave me some really out there ideas
it would be really ironic to meet an alien race that masters space travel but shares the really really really old school traits of the vikings
i actually remember a bit about the historical vikings.. i watched the history channel

i wikied the stuff on snow crash
that is really interesting.. especially the author's style for satire

about the post-apocalyptic thing
i actually had some ideas floating about this type of setting
for a book, i was thinking of a hybrid of the bourne series.. a different take on it with many complications and situations at stake, however bioshock got me thinking...
and i feel i really have to do some sort of crime novel.. i think i can intertwine the whole criminal organization thing into the bourne-like book
its hard to just simply summarize everything....
iv'e read everything above atleast twice now, so i have too many ideas, plots, characters, environments, etc etc to really begin just replying about
