I, for one, am PUMPED for this battle. for all those crying foul and boredom: are you letting speculation influence your expectations? I see nothing wrong with the apprentices of the great sannin (redundant?) following in suit.
I agree. I can see why some are disappointed and under the impression team 7 is little more than a Sannin-copy. I am curious whether the animal-trio has developped some new techniques on their own, some their parents didn't have. I think it would make sense, they could also surpass their previous generations.

Anyway, Sakura's development is a bit strange. First, during the first arc after the time-skip, I was inclined to believe she had developped even more than Naruto. Then, for six years - FREAKING SIX YEARS, DAMNIT -, we saw no progress at all. Even when Pain attacked, or when she went after Sasuke, she looked like a true dropout. It's true she looks like a Tsunade-clone, but to be honest: I didn't really expect her to become stronger than Shizune, let alone as strong as Tsunade. And now, she as a contract with one of the best animals there are, is much stronger than expected, and she has a chakra-seal with a huge potential. She may still be weaker than Naruto or Sasuke, but it's not really fair to compare her with a Jinchuuriki who fully cooperates with the strongest beast or with an Uchiha who got the EMS handed over by his brother. However, healing techniques are extremely important in battle, and the rest of team 7 will depend on it.

And I really hope we will learn how the sannin-apprentices surpass their masters (before they even turn 18 ;-) )

Thanks, guys. I really thought I am the only one who liked this chapter. From time to time, I just wanna see bad-ass or "intelligent" techniques.

Actually, I thought that the Aizen-ghost was an entity formed by the three of them (together), so that they wouldn't need to talk to each other, but to function instinctively as one mind.

I think that even with Sakura only having strength (in her favour in a battle), Hinata still seems to be the weakest of the rookie 9.
I can live with Hinata not being a female Neji-Clone. She is a couple of years younger than Neji, so cut her some slack. If she develops her own techniques, I will find that great. And, by the way, she snapped Naruto out of it as he was on the verge of evil after he had seen Neji die.

Each of the Rookie 9 using simple Kunai would have had the same outcome in this fight and chapter. In fact (at least in the mangapanda translation), a fodder shinobi alliance even EXPLICITLY states how useless the Rookie 9's attacks are, since the Juubi Jrs. are just multiplying.
True, but it's not hard to imagine how some of you would have reacted if they really just had thrown kunais with explosion-tags.

Yup, its always been that way with Mangastream, they take their scanlations and just butcher it with personal interpretations and douchey catch phrases like its cool or something, very lame, its too bad since their cleaner is amazing. Which is why I only read mangapanda's version, it might not be the most accurate or grammatically correct but at least its not some complete abortion seemingly scanlated by some fired writer for VH1 or Mad TV...

Nice chapter though. WTF was up with Sai!?! I know hes not that much of a punk, hes so thought out and calculated, hes an ANBU killer for poop's sake. I know that he didn't just get punked. Im thinking it was all planned and his ink from the hawk spilled all around the juubi and is going to do something now, or he has just put into motion his amazing plan.

I am dissapointed by Hinata though, she made such a big deal about 64 hit, when Neji was doing it back in his chuunin days. I really had hoped for a bigger step up in power from her by now, at least something special about those two lions on her fists, at least the lions!!! She is just going to be a bigger liability in there, at least Kiba and Shino had some amazing skills now that quickly and efficiently killed a bunch of clones.

And Ino-shika-Cho had a nice moment. I like how Ino had the ability to sense everyone near by (liked how it was the first real illustration we've had of how a sensor type worked and looked like). I want to see Choji double up again like he said he would, or have something even more special about his spiked ball, like chakra element spikes or something disasterous.

Exciting chapter though! Once I saw them bite their fingers I was so hoping we would get to see a boss from the hawk famiy but it turns out its still snaked for Sasuke, which isn't bad but I just am tired of snakes by now. I wonder whats special about these 3 new summons now?? And are they going to use them to get close to the juubi or just use them to fight the juubi?

Overall an interesting chapter. I really enjoyed it. Now that team 7 have made their summons hopefully we get to see each member perform a new jutsu combo with their respective summons. It would be nice to see Naruto use a katon jutsu while Gamakichi to use a toad oil jutsu.

From what I understood, Sasuke only tamed and made a contract with that one Hawk, that was flying along the cliff after Sasuke's mourned for Itachi. After all even Tobi was surprised when he got that. If you are wondering why it was so big in the Danzou fight, it's because Sasuke used growth spurt when Summonig (it might be something similar to Chouji's jutsu that is incorporated into the summonig jutsu). The first time something like that was mentioned, is when Jiraya was fighting the Animal Path, he was wondering if perhaps the Cerberus Summons isn't just a normal dog summon but with a growth spurt added to the summonig.

It's quite likely that it takes quite a lot of chakra when using it like that, so it's better to summon a big animal if one has a contract with one, or perhaps the chakra pool of the small animal that was enlarged, isn't enough to fuel for long the big body that it suddenly gained ?

Then again, even though the Uchiha are associated with the Cat Monsters, none of them ever summoned them... quite strange. We have seen them summon Snakes, Crows, Hawks, but no cats... maybe it's going to be Madara's Summon ?

I also wonder if perhaps the Shimura clan as a whole, weren't mainly associated with the DreamEater Summon.

Jyuugo's clan seems to be associated with Snakes, or at least some Animal Summons that knows about Sage Arts ?

Speaking about summons, now that I think about it, it's possible that Kishi reminded us of the Summonig jutsu, because there will be a need to summon the 3 Great Animal Sages. After all, they are Sage Arts specialist and the Shinobi are currently fighting against a monster made up from Natural Energy.

Summoning the Great Toad Sage at least, would be a mistake of Epic proportions for obvious reasons.

lol I can't wait to see someone summon that old ass frog hahaha! But I would love to see ma and pa make a come back again, and if there are snake and slug sages too.

But on the subject of the cats and Uchiha's I always took them as just ninja cats like the ninja dogs, just there, no need to summon. Although I do wish Kiba had a giant wolf/dog summon. Kakashi summons his dog ninjas, but I think he might be one of the expections who made a contract with the dogs or something.

    LOL!

Zero, where did you learn the Uchiha clan is associated with cats? that's an intriguing bit of info... I'm considering the possibility of sasuke harboring a secret sage mode. when I think about how we have seen it used: jiraiya went to great lengths to use it (and explained the process), naruto had a trick to cut out the NE gathering time but went into battle with it enabled, have to go back and read but kabuto's SM was instant/quick, a new type and unexplained, and hashirama had another new type that was also instant and went unexplained. based on the pace of sasuke's battles and the sheer amount of other tricks he's got, is it plausible?

IIRC, in one of the secret storage/armory of the Uchiha, where Sasuke went to prepare for his battle with Itachi, there were Ninja Cats managing things there. They were talking about the situation that the Uchiha clan is in or something along the road and it seemed like the Cats were willing to help Sasuke, but he didn't want to drag them out into it and only got equipment for himself and his team... well it was something like that , it was awhile so there might some inconsistence .

Well, as many have pointed out, Sasuke was compatible with the Cursed Seal. And he's gone one step beyond that; although he lost his Cursed Seal, his compatibility remained, and he gained some of Juugo's cells during his fight against Killer Bee. Perhaps Sasuke has gained some of Juugo's power, if he chose to use it. I've even read some theories that Sasuke will fully absorb Juugo; it's possible. Who knows where things could go.

I think Sasuke's prior control over the Cursed Seal will somehow come back into play to grant him a power-up. Some form of Sage Mode, or even a path to the Rinnegan that doesn't involve Hashirama cells.

Hmm, you guys might be on to something. Sasuke did bring Juugo to the battlefield just now. There's got to be a reason for that. Juugo's clan has unsurpassed natural energy gathering skills, and the juubi is a whole heaplot of natural energy.

Would be cool if something like that actually happened, Juugo and Sasuke combined into some weird ass monster.

All this made me thing though, if this is the final battle, it's going to be a loong battle. This whole war has lasted over a hundred chapters now. And there's still so much to be fleshed out. If Sasuke is going to get the rinnegan, something substancial needs to happen, and I don't see that happening during this battle. I mean, we haven't even seen what his EMS can do. Why would he get the rinnegan before his EMS has even matured?

My guess is, they will finish the juubi, Madara and Obito, save the world and then there's a time skip before Naruto and Sasuke's final battle for the hokage title. Allthough that's a bit predictable.
