One time I had my music turned up in my history class while I was studying. Soon after the class got quiet. I didn't realize they could hear my music (I was listening to Heavy Metal!) until I noticed people looking at me!

well, i always have my music extremely loud, thanks to being able to max out the volume on itunes. alot of people always warn me that i wont be able to hear when i get older, and that ill loose my hearing, so i sometimes listen to music softly, but 90% of the time its super loud. plus, its not like i can avoid it, i play with bands, loudness coming from earphones is something i can actually fall asleep to, im used to loud sounds.

I can usually hear what a person is saying when I listen to music, but sometimes I like to listen with the volume turned up to the max

I try to get the volume up to the exact point where all the noise around me ceases to interfere with the music. Needless to say, I rarely hear those that speak to me while I listen to music.

i make sure that when i'm listening, i cant hear tantrums or whines from other people...that's what music do. they make you forget reality if you want it to.

Well it depends entirely on situation and my personal mood.
- If it is a party, I definitely prefer the category, “Fairly loud, but I still can't hear your voice!”.
- If I am alone and spending my spare time leisurely I would rather go for “Moderate, and I can have a conversation with you.” Type of music.
- If I am having a dinner with my partner, I would like to have, “Quiet, I just need some background music.” Type of music.
