It seems they're going to have a Jiraiya Chronicles airing Thursday, September 24. Anime's farewell bid to Jiraiya perhaps?

wtf, how the hell can they make this without even getting to Pain arc first. Jiraiya only wrote the book after getting inspiration from Nagato. People who don't read the manga will have no clue what context it's in.

Ahh that makes more sense. Damn, so Pain is about to be introduced officially soon? Can't wait to see that. I better start watching the anime again.

POW said what I was thinking about this future episode. The plot moves fast right after the Sasuke-Deidara fight. Jiraiya should be making his reappearance if not in this week's episode, then definitely next week. So with this future episode, they might flesh it out more than what the manga did. But then again, I could be wrong. I thought they'd flesh out Deidara's backstory more, but they kept right along with the manga (might I add, they made Itachi look even more like Jesus in the anime than he did in the manga lol).

On the other hand, they could also mix up the story by showing Pain's entire back story before his attack. That could explain the unnecessary spate of fillers, having to wait for the entire back story to complete in the manga. I'm not sure how to feel about that if it happened.
