I think he got scaly after he ate a piece of Aetherion (tower of paradise arc).

Cool chapter, gotta say I like the idea of there being a dragon out there who is all kinds of poison! Can't wait for the ice and (real) lightning dragon slayer to show up. I wonder where he finds all the poison for him to eat???

Cool chapter, I think Natsu is going to learn something from Cobra in how to better control and maintain his dragon form, maybe even turn his hands scalely too?? I hope it isn't an easy battle for him though, I want Natsu to stuggle and to get beaten up, there needs to be a stronger dragon slayer out there than him...

Also is Midnights power something with the wind maybe? Cutting magic? Or maybe its along the lines of Orihime from Bleach where she can use Tsubaki to "reject" two things and cause them to seperate? Would explain why attacks weren't hitting him...

At this point I think the only one who can/should fight Cobra is Wendy, shes the only one safe from his magic right? Plus she can neutralize all his attacks and power, she better show why shes a powerful mage soon or Im just going to think shes some kind of side character who does nothing and needs to be protected all the time, which sucks in FT cause theres so many strong female characters.

I agree about wendy. We need to see something other then healing magic from her. Like hurracanes, or tornadoes. Hopefully she's not all sweet only.

I remember the first chapter where we got to know wendy and her sweet looks. Everyone was like 'owh damn, i don't want to get her mad'. We all expected her to whoop everyone's ass if she did.

Hopefully we'll see something spectacular very soon.

Natsu didn't pull the joke, it was Cobra trying to be funny and Natsu was taking it really seriously.

Even if Oda did, I doubt that mashima copied that part off him. That sort of "Think of nothing" solution used against enemies that can anticipate movements (eg mind reading, etc) is actually quiet common in mangas. I have seen it pop up quiet a number of times through different mangas.

Personally I don't like these characters hiding their dragon slayer status and suddenly start to surprisingly reveal them. I'm fine with luxus doing it (even though he's not technically a dragon slayer) but to use this "dragon slayer surprise" again is getting kinda too random. For example, if grey (or leon or their teacher) is suddenly revealed to be the ice dragon slayer I would really hate that. I would just rather have them be revealed from the beginning.

Oh and midnight really looks like a J-rocker lol.

I was mostly just linking to that page because I can't get enough of Luffy's baka-face...
