The stock market is just government endorsed gambling. All you need is some arsewipe stockbroker heavily involved in short-selling to wipe you out.

No. The stock market in general is nothing like a casino. Because, when you buy a share of a corperation you are actually becoming a part owner of that said corperation. And unless that corperation goes out of business you can't theoritically lose all off your intial investment. Yes the said share price make take a dip every now and then. But over all, if you are investing in a good corperation with strong roots you can't really go wrong.
Example: If you were to buy 1000 shares of Starbucks, eariler this year around 10 dollars a share. And if you were to hold onto it until now.

Would you still call the stock market gambling probably not. Because unless you are deluded enough to belive that Starbucks is going out of business you don't have to worry about losing all of your money unlike the local casino.
Now as far as short selling, options trading, and ipo investments go. Yes in a way I suppose one could call these types of ricky strategies gambling. However if you know what your doing it is possible to make a lot of money using these types of investments. The problem is your chances for makeing money on these types of investments are probablyonly about 40%. Which is kind of like gambling in my opinion.![]()
