Day to day emotions can be controlled, sadness doesn't invariably mean bawling your eyes out and anger doesn't invariably involve giving impromptu facial reconstructive surgery with your fist and/or a baseball bat, the emotion will still be present, but they can certainly be channeled. In particularly fraught circumstances people can lose their heads, and while it can at times be regrettable, it is part of the human condition.
