That's a gray area for me. Sometimes it's implied that he is strong and sometimes it's implied he is weak. He is smart though, and possibly the smartest character shown thus far. He could be strong but just doesn't like to fight and will avoid it. If he is not strong now, I hope he becomes stronger later.

furuichi I like how he is now smart but supposedly weak, so later we get a big surprised either by him being quick witted or subtly strong character.

after re-reading i definitely think furuichi is a secret super strongy with brains. I think he just lets oga handle all the messes and he's gonna show what he can actually do if/when oga ever gets owned and there's not other possible situation besides him handling the problem and/or he thinks he'd be thought of a mindless thug and that wouldn't impress the ladies if word got out.

I think alaindelon can sense this which is why he's always close by to furuichi to keep an eye on him
