    XP or Vista?

I have two computers, one with XP and one with Vista.

I bought the Vista one only a few months back, but I'm unable to install many of the games and programs I want to install and I have no idea why. The computer was brand new, and I haven't changed any of the settings. Still, the only games I can install are The Sims 2 and...well... sims 2 expansion packs.

That's why I came to the conclusion that Vista was not such a good idea. Even the office programs are twisted. I can't even copy text from the internet and paste it into word (or 'works' as it is called) without getting a warning message resulting in the works documents closing.

Vista has a great design, but causes me much trouble. I've never had these problems with XP and it's so annoying 'cause I have no idea what to do about it (I'm clueless when it comes to changing computer settings and stuff like that)

    Which do you guys prefer?

    (I don't remember if I've posted this before in this forum, but I didn't find it , so I assumed I hadn't)

Why don't you do like I do and get a 300GB hard drive and partition one half for Vista and one for Xp? Then you can just have best of both worlds.

    @DFX: Updated what? ^^"
Well, games like Dreamfall, Guild Wars~ nothing out of the ordinary. Also a "how to learn Japanese" program called 'Talk Now'. I've checked if my computer can play them by using this page: http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest and I got almost 100% on all of the games.

(I have Open Office, at least I had no problems with installing that)

@Hand Banana: The thing is, Vista does nothing good for me at all

I have vista too and keep it very up-to-date. I don't have any probs to speak of, and I don't really mind the few times it gets me to confirm this or that.

I also don't play games, perhaps that is why I have fewer problems. Try updating the computer and see if that helps.

I chose Vista over XP in the poll, because I have read that it is more resistant to viruses than XP is. Like trinny, I too use open office.

I am not perfect and I defy you to prove otherwise

Or install the Windows 7 Release Candidate! Go get the key here and download just a random Windows 7 beta release from a torrent site. It's 100% legal and the beta runs out on august I thought. One problem: You can't update to a retail version when it's released, but you just have to reconfigure the OS and copy your backed-up files.
Why 7 you ask? Well, it has the Vista feature pack with the XP stability. I use it as my primairy OS now and it never failed me =).

Vista is great. You can do save documents and all that other crap way easier. For example I can just drag a folder on to thwe desktop and be done with it. But xp doent have that much of the drag and drop ability.

    Not true at all.

    1) Vista is built for most modern day computers so its ram requirement is exceptionally well.

    2) Vista manages your programs to use less memory and has less memory leaks than Windows XP.
