With regards to Oro's use of the term "Genocide", I personally feel (until further confirmation otherwise) this is the Mangastream translator taking liberties with the actual language. "Erasing" Shinobi might be true (as they would leave the real world to enter the Genjutsu world). However, I don't think Orochimaru has any manipulative intentions behind his synoposis of the situation. I actually think he's sincere.

you know, tobirama's explanation of how the uchiha awaken sharingan really makes me question obito/kakashi flashbacks dealing with rin.

it was neat and seemingly a nice put together package for kakashi to have his eye mirror obito's by simple proximity but after rin's death, kakashi had to reopen his sharingan from just one tomoe to three. even the mangekyo had to reopen on kakashi's terms. i go with the theory of kakashi unlocking his mangekyo thanks to itachi's tsukiyomi and itachi intentionally putting kakashi through that pain so his ms would unlock (otherwise he would be in betrayal of the leaf and his true purpose if he merely tortured kakashi to the extreme that he did).

how do we reconcile tobirama's explanation with kakashi's sharingan and is the "special chakra" that reaches the optic nerve not entirely exclusive to uchiha?

Hmmmm ? No, they both had 2 tomeos, since that was the form Obito awakened it at his final mission. Actually, I noticed that before Obito started having visions, his pupils grew larger/have become wider, in similar manner to how Sasuke's grew, which allowed Sasuke to overpower Tsukuyomi (an MS jutsu) with his regular Sharingan. When it becomes wider, it seems to already symbolize that strong emotions and that special chakra are entering the eye. This probably means that at that time, Obito somehow send out that chakra to Kakashi, in exchange gaining vision of his missing eye (it seems to be a regressed ability of the Rinnegan that Six Path's of Pain used). The fact that Kakashi's pupil grew larger seems to confirm that. Then came the final push, total despair and thus, thanks to the temporary link, both eyes have become MS (of course the eyes first had to reach 3 tomoed version before becoming MS).

I think that Kakashi realized that he could use MS after Itachi showed him that there is something above Sharingan. He had it for quite a long time, he simply didn't know that something like that existed.


BTW. Obito at that time had slain over 60 people that belonged to special mist squad, probably similar to ANBU in terms of power. Whatever Rin had, it must have been something quite precious. Beside this event, there was no other mention of any event that so many Speciel Unit members participated in. Even Oro's attack on Konoha, or Pain's didn't include so many (perhaps Root withheld their participation in both events, well we know that they did at Pain's attack).

It's worth mentioning that Obito have been somewhat influenced by Madara's mind/spiritual energies, seeing as the black rods (which are Madara's mind) grew out of his right side, or perhaps, his own energies, after reaching MS level, have pushed them out of his body. It's even more strange that they have disappeared right after the battle. This might mean that he simply pushed it out of his body completely, or that they have assimilated with him again, having him swayed towards the MEP.

nice bit about the rinnegan's behavior manifesting in obito's sharingan as a "leftover" trait. i never would have thought even though there were plenty of examples elsewhere suggesting it. i enjoyed reading your reply and i feel my question was pretty much answered.

only thing is, sasuke didn't overpower tsukiyomi with his regular sharingan, it was the emergence of orochimaru's no longer suppressed chakra that disrupted the genjutsu's hold. i need to reread that fight to see how authoritative or confused black zetsu would be since finding out he was madara's diluted will.
