This is why.... HP FTW!
Built in back up and restore. Everything to factory conditon in less than 45 mins.
The thing is, I didnt create back up data before, but if I do it now, I'll be saving the infectious data and shit. Now Im searching every square inch of my apartment to find this damn disc.
this is why you shouldn't let friends use the computer.
I'd agree with that.
I have AVG but I never have it running because the scan it does every morning sets my fan off and it's fukken annoying :|
I haven't had a virus/trojan (at least one that's done any harm) in over a year, that's without any protection at all, probably because I only ever go to a select few sites.
You should just buy an external and keep all your important stuff backed up on it, then if you get a bad trojan or something you can just wipe you HD without a second thought.
Hijackware is the sacriest of all, that crap goes into your registry and starts rewriting sh^t! I had a bad one scared the crap out of me cause i couldnt open my windows task bar.
I like Spybot it watches your registry for any changes
*Wish I could have 1 on 1 with the guys who makes these viruses and F#%K em up
OMG So many ppl have told me to switch to Linux.. Damn Bill gates rushing Windows out too market every time with all the loop holes and patches
Good advice...[replacer_img].
These guys are getting smarter there is a new one that pops up and looks like your "My Computer" page in windows and says you have a virus.
I have fallen for one of the Anti virus "programs" once the anti-virus ware that turns out to be ad ware - trojan >.>

I still use window only because everyelse who uses my computerwouldn't be able to handle the switch.
The trick there is to question why someone scanned your harddrive without your permission. If you don't have the named anti-virus on your computer you need to ignore it.These guys are getting smarter there is a new one that pops up and looks like your "My Computer" page in windows and says you have a virus.

I fell for XP Anti-Virus 2009 last year (You read that right.) Seems my sister opened an attachment on my pc. At restart there was a new icon on my desktop. I ran it. it threw up a load of malware on my system and asked if I wanted to remove them. I clicked 'OK'. I got a message back telling me I couldn't repair the 'damage' without the full version. Would I like to purchase it? It was at this point I smelt a rat (Stop laughing). Problem was I couldn't do anything else. It keep overriding my programs with warnings. In the end I found the offending program's source files, did a systems restore and then manually deleted the files. I should switch to Linux just to teach everyone at home a lesson.

I wouldn't switch to Linux unless you paid me to. Oh yes I've tried it before and maybe it's better now, but not being able to freely access files on my network really irked me. Also talk about online media.
Anyway Linux is only safe until the bad guys decide to target it, I am sure there a probably a few linux viruses out there. I figure that the installed base of Linux users is too small yet to make virusing Linux profitable for the Bad Guys.
I am not perfect and I defy you to prove otherwise
Growing Old Gracefully is an Oxymoron ... Mostly Moron !
No, Linux is secure because being open source means the code for it is open to public scrutiny. Any loopholes have been found and plugged. Unlike Microsoft who have persuaded millions if not billions that by keeping their source code secret means its more secure. Remember the IE7 problem a couple of months back? I know Microsoft professionals who won't use Microsoft software for personal use if there's an open source alternative
