Who or what is Tengu?

Tengu are Japanese mythological creatures with wings and long noses. There exist a theory that the Uchihas are the decandants of Sojobo(The Tengu king) and a Hyuuga girl. From this theory developed Mdara's true purpose and the Sharingan theory.

Even after "His" theory has been disproven with the recent chapters, ppl are still influenced by "His" awesome power. I guess "He" will never be silenced.....

I think the Tengu theory is a really good theory. But thats all it is is a theory. bordering on fanfiction really. There has been no fact as of yet to support even the smallest portion of the theory.
I'm sure that Susanoo looking like a tengu didn't help either.

the tengu theory is GOD 2 all theories and i think some1 should jus update and rework it so it can fit in with all the new information we've received... hmm maybe i should... a lot of it has been confirmed, the susanoo lookin like a tengu, i believe it was stated in the manga that uchihas decend from the hyuuga and remember the monster behind itachi with 4 sharingan, i think that was the tengu or at least the closest to it. i mean if the tengu theoy is fake, what could madara possibly want?

I've already mentioned this in pm to one or two users who suggested this thread but I'll reproduce it here:

If the Tengu theory is discussed, or linked to in any way outside of that Tengu thread then Tengu becomes taboo, and I start taking slightly harsher action regarding Tengu, I know newbies may not have total knowledge on how much trouble this thread causes here, but with this thread there is absolutely no excuse to see Tengu anywhere else.
