There are a lot of things that they change from the manga to the anime. If you want to find a fact in something that may not make sense, base it in the manga it's the most accurate.
We had this argument a couple of months back. What you have to remember is that in anime the battle at VotE is a lot longer than the manga and contains several fight sequences that weren't in it either. Unfortunately Sasuke makes what i feel is a significantly misleading statement during a Kage Bunshin attack. This very sequence doesn't exsist in the manga
