Sopa = ruining the internet

Interesting, but based on how often we pass bills I'm not that worried, and even if it is it won't last long once they see the consequences. (Plus how many people will be against it.)
-
I had this Firefox plugin that automatically redirected when you opened a blocked site, forgot the name though (Lost it after my laptop got stolen). Still, sucky that they're doing this. Same with the ACTA treaty now approved in the European Union, internet freedom will probably get worse and worse.

Yea I saw this not too long ago, The internet has already lost most of its interest to me now they're trying to kill it. Its a shame.

So I thought that I'd be cool to inform you all with some news.
I'm sure that the most of you heard about Megaupload being shut down by the FBI because "of how other sites online brought the attention that Megaupload was the site most used to download illegally." At first people seemed to buy it because of how well..it's pretty much true. With different sites protesting in their own ways and also with Megaupload being used by 15 million or so people, it seemed legit.
But recently after arresting Kim Dotcom (founder of Megaupload) and people finding out that he was going to release a joint site named "Megabox", people's minds changed. Why? Well because, Megabox was going to be a music site where one could buy and legally download music. The best part was that 90% of the profits would be going to the artists. A ton more than what an artist/band makes with a label. And Dotcom was hoping that Megaupload users would transfer over to Megabox in time, and it would definitely change the game of the music industry.
So people suspect that the music industry was worried and scared that it could actually happen and they would end up losing a lot of money. So they pushed the government into getting Kim Dotcom arrested. Not because he founded and hosted a site that was pretty much used to upload and download free content, but because of Megabox and how much the music labels would lose in both money and artists.
And also a few days ago, the Motion Picture Association of America President, Chris Dodd, threatened to cut off Hollywood campaign contributions to any member of Congress who doesn’t pass his Internet-censorship legislation.
He said, "Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake.”
