They're definately having a second season - it was offically announced in NewType magazine in Japan last week I think. Think its supposed to start in the Spring......I cant wait - the 1st season was one of the most entertaining and best produced anime's I have seen in ages!
BTW I would class Haruhi as a Shoujo series not a Shounen one.........I'm nitpicking arent I!? :D

well, it depends mostly on taste... and to me, haruhi suzumiya is like the most expensive and delicious ice cream sundae in the world (which, incidentally, is layered in gold)
OH one of the reasons you dont get it is because the episodes are out of order. Episode 1 is one of the last episodes. Go to wikipedia or somewhere and find the correct episode order.
i remember posting the correct episode order on wikipedia...if you go into the episodes sections there a section called chronological order i think

the mess up episode line up is a pretty good idea though, to be trueful i almost miss the entire series thank to the 1st episode haha... but thankfully i continue it due to the nagging of one of my friends to watch the second one.

As for the order for watching Haruhi - I've watched it both ways, 1st airing order and then chronologically........I preferred the randomness of the airing order overall - but I admit the plot made more sense in chronological order!
