What joke? :p
Oh and, here's the MangaStream version.
^There are 10,000 dragons, so that's over 9000 (ugg... that hurt to say)
Oh, that joke.. anyway... it finally gets interesting. So FT would lose the tournament but that is what "supposed" to happen. What if future Lucy already tinkered the situation already. Jellal wouldn't be near the daimatou if it weren't for the zeref like aura which is future Lucy. He probably wouldn't even be on FT's team. Future Lucy could have change the present already.
10,000 dragons descend upon the capital.... I think that qualifies for quite an apocalyptic event, doesn't it?
Now then, with that apocalyptic event looming in the not-so-distant future (like, 2 or 3 more days or some such?), this begs the question: Was there a specific event that occurred at the Grand Magic Games that essentially called all the dragons to the place? Because the Dragons have been shown to be quite intelligent, so I'm not so sure that they would just descend on the capital for no specific reason.
So assuming that's not the case and there was no cause, Future Lucy won't be able to change anything. It would be an inevitable event that no amount of time traveling would be able to fix. But if there is a cause, then there's a chance the Dragon Apocalypse can be prevented. Kinda looking at Sting as the singular cause. Seems he's planned something big, and that would be the perfect catalyst if the carrying out of his plan inadvertently doomed everyone.
Maybe Wendy calling the ghost (or whatever she did back then) of that dragon in the graveyard had soemthing to do with it. The dragons might have felt it's presence and for some reason decided to attack.
Or maybe it's just because this is the 7th tournament (or at least 7 years) after the acknologia attack? (magic number 7)
I know the joke. ;)
The tournament or it's date seem to be the cause itself, since in the past, the magic tournament was called The Dragon King's Festival. Igneel himself mentioned way before the tournament was even reborn, that they all will meet at it.
