they did take some liberties with bijuu mode there (though it didnt look anywhere near complete, it did seem somewhat like what the manga version of it looks like), and naruto then regressed into the flickering in and out kyuubi chakra mode. but otherwise, they really didnt have a way for naruto to fight the powered up kyuubi-chakra clone otherwise.
and what was that last rasengan? seemed a much darker color than usual. Usually, one off rasengan variants are reserved for the full on movies, not self sustained 5 part filler mini-arcs. Edit: after re-watching that part a few times, there's no doubt about it. That is the TBB rasengan
I agree Titokhan, that last Rasengan was the one Naruto was practicing with Bee, and the same one he put into Madara's fan I think. In terms of time/chronology, this would have happened after the Pain fight, but before he went to the Turtle Island. They fudged up things because Yamato was taken right after Naruto gained Kyuubi Chakra.
Anyway, let's call it an Alternate dimensional version, LOL!

the quasi bijuu mode I can see and accept. especially as it appeared to be working like the original red chakra cloak had before. the more tails that came out, the more Kurama was in control.
but they let way too much out of the bag (especially for those who don't read the manga) just in those last 2-3 minutes.
Back to the main story next episode. Can't wait to begin watching again :)
