Funny thing is that this Matador getting gored will only encourage more fights.
The reasoning would be that the matador being gored proves that the fights are indeed fair, and the bull is not just being hopelessly mistreated, sometimes the Man gets mistreated too.
True, fights that are unfair and predictable are rather boring.

Incidentally, not all bullfighting is potentially fatal, as I recall, the Basque-Navarre style just involves a big staff and pole vaulting over the bull, with points for acrobatics and how dangerous things were, no harm is actually done to the bull or (Ideally) to the bullfighters.
