Gundam Statue Erected!

A bronze statue has been placed at the south exit of Kamiigusa station in Tokyo and cost 20,000,000 yen to erect.
According to the article at Yomiuri, Kamiigusa was where Sunrise first set up.
While the young folks may like the statue, the old folks dont seem to care for it.
Would be interesting to know whether that 20 million yen was tax payers money. If it was tax payers money, would you as mayor give approval for the bronze RX78?

Awesomeness. It brings a culture-like icon thing to the city. Gundam is a very very japanese thing, so it fits perfect! =)

I'd have prefered a statue of Oh! Great but what can you do eh?
Although if I was a local taxpayer I'd be pissed off if my rates went up next year

I wouldn't mind having say £5 extra being taxed off my wages every week for something like this, It's the same as any other statue you would find dotted all around the UK, only this one represents modern culture.
They should have made it much taller though, like 30ft minimum :|
